Who We Are

Who We Are

Winters Middle School provides all students with a safe and caring environment focused on academic achievement. We celebrate excellence and growth; foster positive relationships; and create supportive and respectful communities for learning.  Our programs are aligned with California State Standards and provide students with a rigorous and challenging education.

At WMS, learning is active and students have multiple opportunities for hands-on, experiential education.  Instruction is differentiated and meets the needs of each learner.

Winters Middle School has a student population of approximately 350 students with 18 full and part-time teachers. Our staff and students support a positive school culture with many community-building activities and events throughout the school year.

Our school enjoys strong community and parent support with volunteers who work hand-in-hand with administration to help coordinate events that celebrate student achievement, and make school not only a place where leaning takes place, but a place where students can have fun while becoming successful and happy young adults.

Our mission is providing a quality education to meet the needs of our diverse school community by fostering the habits of mind, heart, and work.

1.       Make and implement a plan that addresses diverse student, staff, and family needs.

2.       Provide time to collaborate across sites and grade levels with all staff.

3.       Provide accountability for staff and students.

4.       Reduce and balance class sizes.

We aim to make Winters Middle School a place where students appreciate differences, learn independence, and grow intellectually; develop physical well-being and a positive regard for self, school, and others; learn to make transitions and deal well with change; and are involved in the community with a sense of global responsibility.

At WMS, we challenge students to embody our motto: “Be kind.  Be honest.  Work hard.”

We will reach all students!
